Chemrock’s tanks cover a range of sizes from small to the large. In line with the trend for ever larger tanks, many of the recent projects we have worked on involve enormous tanks with diameters around 80 m, including, seven tanks at Ras Laffan in Qatar, two tanks at Point Fortin in Trinidad, three tanks for Botas near Istanbul, Turkey and one tank in Puerto Rico.

We own 3 portable expansion plants, which we bring onsite to any location throughout the world. Our small portable expansion unit has a capacity of 11 m³/h and is used for tanks up to 1500 m³. The two big portable expansion units have a capacity of 30 m³/h each and are used for big tanks of more than 1500 m³. If the tanks are smaller than 1000 m³, we will ship the expanded perlite rather than producing it on-site. Depending on the location and distance from one of our fixed expansion plants, this can be supplied in bulk bags or in silo trucks.

Our portable tanks allow us to complete our projects ahead of schedule. The tanks in Puerto Rico was filled using two portable plants which expanded up to 83 MT per day and at Point Fortin by using our two big portable expansion plants simultaneously, which was a very difficult operation but one that was successfully achieved by our experienced crews. The perlite in many tanks has been internally vibrated using our unique in-house designed vibrating plate vibrator.

Our procedures for recording progress on the job has developed into an ISO Quality Assurance program that exceeds our customers expectations and ensures that the installed perlite is within specifications and on schedule. Geert first joined Dicalite in 1989 at its perlite expansion facility in Ghent, Belgium. Geert holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical-Mechanical Engineering and Certificates in Leadership and People Manager from The Vlerick Business School of Brussels. Geert manages the Ghent perlite operation, and is responsible for oversight of all engineering projects and capital improvement projects for Dicalite. He also oversees all operations for Chemrock Cryogenics, a division of Dicalite Europe.
